Usually, wildlife should be left alone and observed from a distance. However, there are cases when human activity has caused injury to a wild animal, and you may want to assist the animal.
Misguided intervention can do more harm than good!
Many baby animals are assumed orphans, but several species leave their babies alone for long periods of time, letting them safely rely on camoflage. Knowing whether a young bird or mammal is truly orphaned depends on its species, age, and behavior.
